Lower Back and Hip Problems Solved With Bowen Therapy
February 26, 2017 | Rae Faulkner
After one Bowen Therapy treatment the client got off the table and could not believe that her legs (and pelvis) had evened out. She even had a bit of trouble walking to start with as she had been used to having uneven leg length for so long.
On testing, this client presented with a right posterior and superior iliac spine (top of the pelvis) 4 cm higher than the left. Her spine deviated to the left in the lumbar region causing a shortened spine muscle causing the right hip and leg being pulled up. The Right leg was 2 cm shorter than the left and this client had to wear a knee brace to prevent the knee from popping out.
The client’s doctor couldn’t help her and made no recommendations.
So how does Bowen Therapy work?
It is a soft tissue therapy working on the fascia (or connective tissue) of the body. Fascia plays a major role in muscle co-ordination, postural alignment and the overall structural and functional integrity of the body. By working directly on the fascia Bowen moves work to unwind old unwanted patterns and introduces balance, movement and fluidity throughout the body.
If you suffer from any pain or injury, acute or chronic, give Bowen Therapy a try, you will be pleasantly surprised.
