Bowen Therapy After Care Stroud Gloucestershire

bowen after care

There are several things that you should prepare yourself for after a session of Bowen to help your body reset its self and for the treatment to become effective.

Water

Please ensure that you drink at least 8 glasses of still water each day (1.5 litres).

Movement

On the day of your treatment try not to sit still for more than 30 minutes at a time. A short walk around the room for a few seconds is all that’s needed to best benefit from the energetic stimulation that has begun its work and keep moving.

Responses

Responses to Bowen treatment, which may be experienced, can include:

* Thirst

* Tiredness

* Hot and cold flushes

* Headaches

* Mood changes

* Body aches and pains

These are all positive signs that the healing process is working and these responses usually clear after 48 hours.

Exercise

Continue with any comfortable and gentle exercise regime that you already have, unless otherwise advised. Movement is good following treatment – but not excessive or out of normal range, avoiding contact sports for 48 hours.

Medication

Do not alter any medication or diet that has been prescribed to you.

Heat/Cold

Do not use ice packs or heat pads during a course of Bowen. Do not have a very hot/cold bath or sun bed/sauna sessions.

Other Therapies

During the course of treatment with The Bowen Technique, do not receive another physical therapy such as:

* Reflexology

* Physiotherapy

* Osteopathy

* Chiropractic

* Massage

* Acupuncture etc…

Within 7 days after you have finished your Bowen Technique treatments. This is to ensure that the body is not overloaded with information to deal with at the same time.
